The new, apparently less lofty mountain range was found on the lower-left edge of Pluto's best known feature, the bright, heart-shaped region named Tombaugh Region.
The image was obtained at a high phase angle -- that is, with the sun on the other side of Pluto, as viewed by New Horizons.
